Flambards

Established nearly 30 years ago as the Cornwall Aircraft Park the Flambards Experience is one of the most popular days out in Cornwall. Not only does the Theme Park host the best thrill rides in Cornwall, but also the Flambards Victorian Village and Britain in the Blitz indoor attractions.

Poldark Mine

Situated in the picturesque Wendron Valley, once the scene of intense industrial activity, the site has attractive surroundings and gardens. There is also craft workshops run by local people including antique restorers, candle makers, chandelier repairers, pottery makers and wood turners.


Entry to the site is free. Guided mine tours are extra. 

RNAS Culdrose

The principal role of RNAS Culdrose is to support the Anti-Submarine Warfare and Airborne Early Warning helicopter squadrons in meeting the operational requirements of that task group commander.


It also provides 24 hour, 365 days-a-year military and civilian search and rescue for the South West region.


There are guided tours and a public observation area with cafe for those who want to view (don't try anywhere else in case you get arrested !). There is and Air Day every July.

Lizard Lighthouse

 Lizard Point marks the most southerly point of mainland Britain, and its hazardous rocks have claimed many ships through the centuries.

The Lizard lighthouse is one of six reference stations operating around the coast of Britain fitted with the differential global positioning system.   Now open to the public, visitors are able to ascend the light tower, offering some breathtaking views, as well as being able to explore preserved engines in the engine room.

Lands End

A bit commercial for our taste, but you may want to go there just to say that you have been as far west as you can go on the mainland !  

Minack Theatre

This combines an open air theatre with spectacular views and scenic walks.


Their website has a list of performances (May-Sep) which range from Shakespeare to modern productions.


Minack is well worth a visit to see the theatre, gardens and the scenic walks. 

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum

Cornwall's secret wartime communications centre built under Porthcurno. Undersea cables fanned out from the beach to all parts of the Empire and beyond.  The tunnels, built in World War II, house a unique museum of historical equipment, dating back to the 1870s


There is also aLovely  sandy cove at Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre nearby.      


 All this adds up to a good day out for all the family.

Eden Project

The Eden Project  is a large environmental centre built in a disused clay pit containing 3 giant Biodomes with plants from around the globe from in various climates. 


It is virtually a 'must do' if you have never been there. 


If you come in the cooler parts of the year make sure you can take off some layers layers when going into the tropical zone !

The largest preserved mining site in the UK.


The museum tells the story of mining in Cornwall and the people who lived there.


The guided tour is well worth it


There are both surface and underground things to see and a good cafe overlooking the Atlantic.


The National Trust  steam Beam engine at Levant is only short coastal path walk away, which together can make a great day out.
